Finding Your Vanity Plate

Have you ever wondered why there is a large hand full of people with vanity license plates? It seems like everywhere you go while driving on the road or highway; you can see someone with a creative custom plate with some form of witty meaning.

Few months ago, I was riding up to Cook’s Corner down in Orange County with a few friends of mine. I noticed a few bikes parked in front of the bar lined up in their prosaic single line format, displaying their personal creativity what they have done to their bikes. To be honest, I am always easily amused when walking outside viewing the custom bikes, but what attracted my attention on that particular day were the little witty meanings on the plates. It was simple and subtle, but noticeable.

Few days later, I was at home trying to come out with my own vanity license plates. What struck me was that I actually had a brain fart. No matter what I thought of, nothing seems to click in and when I did find something great it was taken already. Nevertheless, I was able to get my personal plate, but to be honest with you it was not my first choice.

If you are considering in creating a vanity plate for your personal enjoyment and would like to know how a person should approach on conceptualizing such manner. I have created a simple list, which can help you get your creative juice flowing.

1. Nickname – Try to create a nickname that can be understood among your friends or family, this will make it more fun and meaningful (e.g. Little Man – LILMAN).
2. Message – Write out a message that describes your personal vehicle (e.g. On a Cobra roadster – SSSSSSS or Black Honda del Sol – DARKSOL).
3. Promote Yourself or Business – Incorporate the concept of promoting your business or personal lifestyle (e.g. Lifestyle from the pass – XHIPPY or Investment Broker – STOXUP).
4. Theme – Something which that you really enjoy or have a passion for that can make you stand out (e.g. Star Wars Robot – R2D2WIN or Listening to Rock N Roll music – LUV2ROC).

Once you have decided on the perfect vanity plate for yourself, make sure to have some back up options ready to go. By creating additional options, this will allow you to move forward and save time rather than being stagnate trying to figure out another vanity name plate. Trust me on this one. You will be surprise to find out how many vanity plates are out there and currently being used by other motorists.
